SEAPORT CONCERT FAIL

After missing the chance to go to Cornell back in early May, I was hoping to see DRAKE live for the first time this past Tuesday at South Street Seaport. The free event was sponsored by Paper Magazine and I was really excited to see Drake perform.

Damnnn I should have known better.

The day of the concert, June 15th, coincided with Drake's debut album release, Thank Me Later, a heavily anticipated album that had fans going crazy for. On top of the thousands of raging fans, I should have realized that a FREE concert X an area with VERY LIMITED capacity X the HOT weather would equal a DISASTER.

to quote DNAinfo.com: "About 4,000 people were expected at the event, sponsored by Paper Magazine, and the NYPD sent 19 officers. But police said around 25,000 people showed up."

I was dismayed by what happened. All the ridiculous objects being thrown around, all the roof-climbing, all the random bickering and little fights culminated into a rushed exit by me and my friends. It wasn't long before many other people left as well.

Sigh, despite waiting nearly 4 hours in a rough crowd, Drake didn't even show up. Still a fan, but super disappointed!
