So apparently, a few of these billboards were put up in Brooklyn, stating, "Raise Your Pants, Raise Your Image". I'm sure I can't be the only person finding something wrong with this. How is sagging your pants SO important that the government is wasting money on billboards like these? Do we not need this money to put into education, housing for the poor, and programs to benefit our communities? It has been decades and decades where people have sagged their pants, and I do not see that big of a problem with it. Instead of telling people to pull up their pants b/c of the stereotypes that come along with this type of fashion (ghetto thugs, misfits) maybe we can educate people in order to decrease ignorance. A peek of someone's underwear has not cause social upheaval; ignorance has. Not everyone who sags their pants are "bad people". Neither are they thugs from the ghetto, black, or rebels. If we actually put more effort in trying to eliminate or decrease stereotypes, we might not have to encourage people to pull up their pants because we remind them of negative stereotypes. We might actually be able to wear our clothes according to our personal taste.
And good luck getting everyone in Brooklyn to pull up their pants.
